Pain Pill Abuse
Drug abuse among teens is a major concern of parents, health providers, teachers, family, and peers. A problem once dealt more with drug abuse involving marijuana and alcohol is showing a disturbing shift towards drugs that can be found in the medicine cabinet.
Recently, there was a survey taken by 50,000 teens nationwide that revealed changes in the reported use of prescription medications. The annual survey conducted by the University of Michigan, showed a decrease in the use of marijuana and cigarettes, yet a startling increase in the illicit use of prescription pain medications. The study revealed a trend towards excessive use of opioids like oxycodone (OxyContin) and hydrocodone (Vicodin).

There is great hype built around drug and alcohol rehab centers all around the world. One would think that it is a place for the worst people in the world. We forget that there are places like prisons where all of the murderers and rapists go. For some reason we tend to scorn on people who come out of or go into a drug and alcohol rehab center
We must not forget that these people are merely people with problems, and even though they have become a little bit of a menace to society, they did not really hurt anyone – if they did, they would be in jail.

Does Chinese Herbal Medicine Work?
Dr. Ting Hung-Leung, Hong Kong’s deputy director for Traditional Chinese Medicine, commented: “The problem in 1997 was we had over 7,000 practitioners of herbal and Traditional Chinese Medicine and anyone could call themselves TCM practitioners.” Now rigid licensing and educational standards have made the study more acceptable to Western standards.
As a result, Chinese herbal medicine and clinics offering acupuncture treatment are opening up in many American medical schools and the ancient treatments are being tested in laboratories for effectiveness. Researchers and patients alike are surprised at the results.
